I have things to say, but I just haven't felt like posting. What with having my tooth pulled and not getting enough sleep, the last few days haven't been stellar for me. So sometime soon I'll try to post about stuff that's been going on.

Tooth

Last week I thought I had part of a filling come out of one of my very back teeth. The tooth itself didn't hurt, but it had a rough edge that was scraping against the inside of my mouth and it was making my jaw kind of sore. So I had an appointment earlier this afternoon to get the filling repaired. Only I get there and they say that it's one of my wisdom teeth (which I've never had pulled) and that it's not worth filling because it'll only keep decaying because You can't really even fit a toothbrush back there. So I had my tooth pulled. And on the way home I bought a container of yogurt and 2 cartons of ice cream. If I have to have soft foods, I'm at least going to get some that tastes good. I just hope it stops bleeding soon so I can take this dang gauze out of my mouth.

Driving

Master and I had some time to ourselves yesterday. No kids were home! Normally we'd spend most of that time being naked and in bed together, but since I'm unfortunately in the process of getting rid of a lovely yeast infection, that wasn't on the menu. So we decided to go for a drive! Master and I both love to drive and both love being out on the road, even if we're not the one driving. We live on the NE side of town, so we just hopped on the Yellowhead and went east and it wasn't long before we were out of town. I'd never been that way and I don't think Master has been that way in a really long time, so it was practically new to both of us!

It was sunny and warm, so we had good weather. We passed some canola fields that are so bright and yellow it almost looks fake! Then we got to where Elk Island Park is, a national park that I didn't even know about. At one point we could see a whole bunch of bison right off the side of the highway! Baby bison are so cute! One of these days Master and I are going to drive back and actually go into the park. I love seeing all the animals!!

It's nice to have a way to spend time together that doesn't cost a lot of money, something we both enjoy, and something where we can either talk or not. We both really enjoyed it and it was a nice, non-sex way to spend time together! :)

Granna Update

I talked to Mom last night. We usually have our weekly calls on Friday nights now. Granna's surgery went well on Thursday. It was a partial hip replacement. She said Granna's in fairly good spirits. She's going to have to have rehab/physical therapy for a while, and they weren't sure yet what was going to be done about her shoulder. But so far it sounds like things are okay.

Blood Suckers II

I've found a few more mosquito bites on my leg. Oh, and the 15 or so bites on my lower stomach. If mosquitos sucked fat instead of blood I'd be about 3 sizes smaller!

Blood Suckers

Last night Master decided that we all (Master, me, and J since A was at work) should go on a walk. There's a spiffy ravine near here with a nice path along the bottom of the ravine, so Master decided we should go there. Right near the end of the ravine is a nice park that we've been to before. We even took some muffins that were about to be stale to feed the birds at the park. So we started walking. It was humid last night, but still fairly nice out. Since the ravine is somewhat wooded, there were mosquitos around, but not too many. Note: I will say that there seem to be either more mosquitos or more aggressive mosquitos than anywhere I've lived before.

So we're walking along for a while and then the trees get thicker. And thicker. And then I start getting attacked. My right arm (the side next to the trees, Master was on my left side) constantly had at least 2 mosquitos on it at any one time, despite my best effort to keep smacking them. After the first few minutes, I nearly started running to get out of that part of the trail. When we stopped once we got out of the thick woods, the front of my pants were covered with a bunch of dead mosquitos, like they'd flown into me or something! Either that or they're attracted to black pants. I've never seen anything like it, and I hope I never do again! I told Master I'm never walking that path again during mosquito season.

At least the rest of the walk was fairly nice, even if it was a LOT longer than intended, due to us taking a wrong turn and not making it to the park. In Edmonton there are walking/biking paths along the entire river through the city. We went the wrong way when we got to the river. By the time we stopped we'd been walking for about an hour and a half. Bless his heart, Master let J and I wait where we'd come out while he walked back (by roads, not along the trail) to the car and then came to pick us up. It only took him 35 minutes!

For the most part, I enjoyed our walk. But I told Master I didn't want to go on any more walks where he didn't know where he was going. lol And so far I've only found 3 bug bites on my right arm today. lol

Broken

My mom sent a quick email to Brother and me last night to let us know that Granna had fallen that morning and had broken her right hip and shoulder. She's having surgery on her hip tomorrow. I hope she'll be okay.

Summer Blahs

I haven't been much in the mood for a full-on blog post lately. I know some of it has been the heat. It makes me cranky when I'm really hot. The kind of hot that I can't escape, the kind of hot where I can sit still doing nothing and still sweat. I also haven't had a ton of stuff to blog about. There have been little things here and there (one of them involving a dead mouse, thankfully far away in Ohio), but when it comes time to blog... eh, not so much.

Master and I had a really good night last night. We hadn't gotten a lot of good time together for a while. With it being hot, it doesn't really make us want to touch each other a lot. The weather was nice yesterday, so we had a good night together. I sat in front of him on the bed and he combed my hair for a while. I love when he does that. :) We snuggled a little, then he just touched and inspected me. I love that too, when he pays that much attention to me. :) Then we, you know, fucked. Hard. It had been a few days, so we were both really ready, and it was good.

We went to bed after having a snack, but the good times didn't last. Master fell asleep hard. But me... not so much. I was tired, but couldn't get my mind to turn off. It didn't help that the kids were upstairs being noisy and Master was snoring really loudly. I tried nudging him a few times and he'd stop for 30 seconds to a minute and then start snoring again. I finally got fed up and decided to try to sleeping somewhere else. I couldn't sleep in the living room because I'd still be kept up by the kids. So I went outside to my car and curled up in the backseat. I actually fit better than I thought I would. I was out there for a few hours before Master knocked on my window. He was upset because he'd been worried and didn't know where I was. I was upset that he was upset. But after a bit and some talking, we both felt better. I cried and apologized for not waking him up and letting him take care of things. He made me promise to never do that again. And then we went to bed and he wouldn't let me go the rest of the night. Sometimes I still don't realize that I don't have to do everything myself any more. I don't have to deal with it all on my own. I'm not even supposed to any more. I'm still learning how to have someone else in control, taking care of me, always looking out for me.

It's hot. It's 32 C right now, which is about 90 F. The weather network site says it feels like 100. And our house, like most homes here, doesn't have A/C. This doesn't make Suzy a happy camper.

Just dang hot.

Weekend Bits

J was at his mom's this weekend, and on those weekends, A is the only kid around, since she never goes to her mom's. But she's recently started a new job - her first ever! - and has been working evenings as she trains. Which means that Friday night, Master and I had the house to ourselves til after 11. Hmmm.... is that trouble I smell? Nope, it's sex! lol I greeted Master when he got home wearing only a little something, and we then proceeded to "christen" a room of the house! It was so fun!

Saturday we did some things around the house, then that evening we went to the "cheap" theater to see a movie. We saw Wild Hogs. I laughed and laughed at that movie!! It was just freakin' hilarious!! You all have got to see it. Freakin'. Hilarious.

Last night when Master and I went to bed, his drink next to the bed (soda) was bubbling and talking louder than pop usually does. Master leaned over to take a drink...

Master: It sounds like the ocean.
Suzy: When have you ever been to the ocean?
M: Vancouver.
S: So... the ocean by Vancouver is carbonated?
M: Maybe. There are a lot of hippies in Vancouver.

Then a little later, I was kind of rolling back and forth just slightly on the bed, not ready to go to sleep yet and feeling a little goofy...

M: What are you doing?
S: I'm rocking. To the rhythm of your pop.
M: Ohh, so that's what pop rock is!
S: laughing
M: Now if only I could figure out what rockabilly is.
S: You take a billy and you rock it.
M: What kind of billy?
S: Boy, goat, hill, whatever.

Midnight Sun

I haven't slept well the last two nights, this past night especially. Tuesday night I had things on my mind, so I got up around midnight and decided to go for a drive. As I was driving, I noticed that the sky in the west was still a wee bit light. Even when I got home an hour later, I could still see the faint outline of the sky against where the clouds were... and it wasn't manmade light. At 1 AM.

Last night I really couldn't sleep. It was well after 4 AM before I finally fell asleep. Master couldn't sleep either - we think maybe something in the air in the basement - so we went up to the living room for a little while. I noticed when I look out the window at one point that it was getting noticably light out in the east. It was 3:22 AM on the kitchen clock. It's depressing when it's getting light out and you haven't even been to sleep yet. It helps that I now know it's only dark for a couple hours. It just blows my mind a little.

Canada Day

Yesterday (Sunday) was Canada Day. Kinda like July 4th, but 3 days earlier. For the most part, the day wasn't any different for us. However, when Master and I took R (his youngest son) back to his mom's house yesterday evening, we decided to go downtown. Apparently every year Edmonton has a tradition of creating a waterfall. They have a high level bridge that crosses the North Saskatchewan River, and they create a waterfall from the top of the bridge. So we found a parking spot not far from the Legislature building and walked to the park near the bridge. (As a side note, Edmonton has a tremendous amount of parkland, especially along the river valley. In fact, they have the most parkland of any major city in North America!) We found a nice spot and sat down to wait for a while, since we were there more than a half hour before the waterfall was to start. Around 9 PM, you could see the water start to come on as it worked its way up to full blast. The sun was still bright, but setting (imagine the sun at around 8 PM for most of you - Edmonton is farther north so it stays lighter much later). It was pretty cool and neat to see.

They also have fireworks later, but since they wait til it's dark, they don't start til 11 or midnight and Master and I didn't want to wait around that long. So we started strolling back to the car. Between the river and the car was the Legislature building and right next to that are these little pools that people were hanging out by and kids were playing in. It was a beautiful night and there were people everywhere, but it was just relaxed and enjoyable. As we got closer to the car, I almost started to cry. I didn't say anything, but Master looked over at one point and saw my face. He was afraid something was wrong, but I told him they were happy tears. Because I was finally here. It was my first Canada Day, in Canada, with him. Finally. He just hugged me and kissed me and told me how happy he was too. You know, the thing about having to struggle so much to get here is that we don't take it for granted. Not even a little thing like spending Canada Day together. :)
